This book cover the periods 1871-1872 and 1876-1878. Most of the entries are by Edison and refer to his personal expenses and household expenditures. There are also accounts for October 18-December 30, 1871 relating to the short-lived News Reporting Telegraph Co., including five entries recording wages paid to "M. Stillwell" (possibly Edison's future wife, Mary Stilwell). Also included are a few entries pertaining to the Gold & Stock Telegraph Co. The spine is labeled "July 1871 to Febry 1872. DAYBOOK. T.A.
