This set of approximately 450 pages, covering the period October 1870-January 1873, is a record of wage payments and payroll calculations. The weekly payroll sheets list workers, their rate of pay, hours worked, and weekly payments. Many of these payroll sheets are preceded by a calculation sheet that provides a weekly analysis of labor costs for specific jobs. Beginning in August 1871, the payroll sheets include the signature of the worker on the line recording his weekly hours and pay. Courtesy of Thomas Edison National Historical Park.
