This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to the commercial and technical development of Edison's alkaline storage battery. Included are several pages of instructions in Edison's hand regarding machine tools for the manufacture of batteries. There are also letters concerning the progress of Edison's battery work, the materials to be used, and the performance of cells.

Approximately 30 percent of the documents have been selected. The items not selected consist primarily of letters, some of which bear perfunctory marginalia by Edison, requesting information about the batteries.
