This folder contains correspondence from or about employees and prospective employees. There are also letters soliciting Edison's opinion regarding former employees seeking employment elsewhere. Most of the correspondence consists of requests for employment at the West Orange laboratory, some in answer to newspaper advertisements. Among the items for 1909 are letters and memoranda pertaining to an industrial accident in which one worker was killed. There are also documents relating to employee indebtedness, to English classes for Edison employees, and to hiring, salary, and bonus arrangements for employees in the Kinetograph Department of the Edison Manufacturing Co.
Approximately 40 percent of the documents have been selected. The items not selected consist primarily of unsuccessful applications for employment at the laboratory.
