Document File Series -- 1870: (D-70-04) Telegraph -- Gold & Stock Telegraph Co
[D7004]

This folder contains correspondence, some of it by Edison, along with an agreement and a bill relating to the business of the Gold & Stock Telegraph Co. This company was incorporated in New York in August 1867 to exploit Edward Calahan's stock ticker. On August 27, 1869 it acquired Samuel Laws's Gold & Stock Reporting Co., including the Edison patents held by that company. In February 1870 Edison began working under contract to officials of the Gold & Stock Co. Two of his firms—the American Printing Telegraph Co. and the Financial & Commercial Telegraph Co.—were acquired by Gold & Stock in 1870. The correspondents for 1870 include Marshall Lefferts, president of the Gold & Stock Telegraph Co.

All of the documents have been selected.
