This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to patent applications and other patent matters. Among the items for 1871 are numerous caveats (preliminary patent applications) pertaining to automatic telegraphy and other inventions. Also included is a letter from Edison's patent attorney, Lemuel W. Serrell.
