This folder contains correspondence, accounts (1874-1877), and other items regarding Edison's relationship with the Atlantic & Pacific Telegraph Co. This company, controlled by Jay Gould, acquired control of the Automatic Telegraph Co., along with Edison's automatic telegraph patents and the rights to his quadruplex patents, in 1875. Edison served as company electrician during the first six months of 1875. The correspondents for 1877 include financier Jay Gould and Alfred Nelson, the treasurer of the Atlantic & Pacific Telegraph Co. The following notation appears on many of the documents: "Used in law suit: Edison vs. A & P and Domestic Telegraph Co. Apr. 1878.
