This folder contains three items relating to the American Institute, which was chartered in New York City in 1829 to encourage industry in the United States. The Institute held annual exhibitions of manufacturing, invention, and agriculture. Included is a letter regarding a demonstration of Edison's telephone at the institute, along with a postcard announcing the upcoming exhibition for September 1878. In addition, there is a printed circular with a list of award winners.
All of the documents have been selected except for duplicate copies of correspondence. Courtesy of Thomas Edison National Historical Park.
