[D8338]

This folder contains correspondence, agreements, reports, and other documents relating to the Edison electric light system in the United Kingdom. Among the correspondents are Arnold White, secretary of the Edison Electric Light Co., Ltd., and H. S. Trehearne, acting secretary of the company. Some of the documents deal with the merger of Edison's company with the Swan United Electric Light Co., Ltd. in October 1883. Related material can be found in the Records of the Edison Electric Light Co., Ltd. (Company Records Series). Several documents in this folder are partially illegible because of water damage.

Approximately 70 percent of the documents have been selected. The following categories of documents have not been selected: routine correspondence regarding accounts, orders, and shipments of goods; correspondence confirming cable messages; duplicate copies of selected documents; copies of cable messages in Letterbooks, LM-001 and LM-002 (Letterbook Series).
