This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to the commercial and technical development of Edison's alkaline storage battery. The material consists primarily of correspondence with windmill manufacturers from whom Edison sought product information in the hope of using windmills "for supplying electric current for farm houses and other isolated buildings through the medium of my improved Storage Battery."

Approximately 30 percent of the documents have been selected. The items not selected include printed information, letters from manufacturers unable to satisfy Edison's request for information, and multiple copies of his letter of inquiry.
