This letterbook covers the period January-August 1884. Most of the correspondence consists of routine form letters acknowledging the receipt of supply and equipment orders. Only four letters—three by Edison and one by Samuel Insull—have been selected. The front cover is marked "Advices Only--" and is stamped "T. A. Edison. Construction Dept., 65 Fifth Ave., New York." The spine is labeled "1884" and is stamped "Advices Letters No.1." The book contains 499 numbered pages and an index.
