This notebook covers the period August-October 1903. All entries are by Edison. The book contains notes and drawings regarding phonograph recording apparatus and the composition of phonograph cylinders. Many of the entries pertain to tests of the arrangement, composition, and size of funnels used to concentrate sound for musical recordings. The front cover is labeled "Phonograph Aug-Sept 1903." The pages are unnumbered. Approximately 70 pages have been used.
