These four notebooks were used by N. M. Elias in 1915-1916. They contain notes on experiments with phenol, including experiments on residue and muck from the phenol still and on "freeing" phenol for phenolate. There are also experiments involving feldspar, salt, potash, alunite, and magnesite.
