These five notebooks cover the period July-September 1887, with intermittent entries from 1889, 1890, 1892-1894, and 1898. The books contain material relating to various administrative matters at the West Orange laboratory. Included are items pertaining to construction of the laboratory, the Llewellyn Park electrical system, technical books and journals, and labor records. Most of the material is by unidentified storekeepers and office personnel. Only one book has been selected: a detailed journal regarding construction of the laboratory that notes several on-site inspections by Edison.

Pocket Notebook, PN-89-11-00
This pocket notebook contains only one dated entry from November 1889. It was used by Alexander W. Brigham to list equipment and reference books in room 20, which was probably located on the third floor of the main laboratory building.
Pocket Notebook, PN-90-00-00
This undated pocket notebook was used by an unidentified employee as an index for an unidentified volume. The index contains primarily the names of firms, but there are some individuals listed as well. The index listings are followed by what are possibly page numbers to the unidentified volume.
Pocket Notebook, PN-90-11-04
This pocket notebook covers the period November-December 1890. It was used by William Kemble Sparrow and George Carman Deake [Deane?] to record the laying of underground lines for the Llewellyn Park electrical system.
Pocket Notebook, PN-98-00-00
This undated pocket notebook has a loose page inserted into the book dated November 1898, but the book itself contains entries from at least as early as 1892-1894 and probably from 1898 and later as well. It was used by an unidentified employee as an address book, listing equipment suppliers and numerous individuals. Some of the individuals noted in the book were employed at the West Orange laboratory.
