National Archives, Washington, D.C.: Records of the Patent and Trademark Office (Record Group 241) -- Libers of Patent Assignments -- Prospectus & Incorporation Papers: Edison Pen & Press Co (1876)
[W100CAN]

[The first paragraph of this note covers all of the Libers of Patent Assignments in Record Group 241.]

Patent assignments were generally forwarded to the U.S. Patent Office, where they were copied into the Libers of Patent Assignments. A summary was entered into the Digest of Patent Assignments, and the original document was then returned to the assignee. These Edison-related assignments, which cover the years 1868-1876, pertain primarily to inventions in telegraphy. Also included is an assignment relating to Edison's electric pen.

This folder contains handwritten copies of two prospectuses, correspondence between Edison and the Manufacturers & Merchants Bank, and incorporation papers for a proposed company called the Edison Pen & Press Co.
