National Archives, Washington, D.C.: Records of the Patent and Trademark Office (Record Group 241) -- Patent Interference Files -- Edison v. Lane v. Gray et al. -- Brief for Edison
[W100DGB]

This file consists of the brief for Edison on appeal before the Board of Examiners-in-Chief in the case of Edison v. Lane v. Gray v. Rose v. Gilliland, which involved conflicting claims over dynamos. The brief was filed by Edison on February 22, 1882, the other litigants having withdrawn after the Examiner of Interferences ruled in favor of Elisha Gray (1835-1901). The Board sustained the decision of the Examiner, and the case was appealed to the Commissioner of Patents.

Related interference records can be found in the Litigation Series in Thomas A. Edison Papers, Part II (1879-1886).
