This petition, presented to the second session of the 52nd Congress in January 1893, is signed by Thomas A. Edison, his father Samuel Edison, and many members of the West Orange staff, including William K. L. Dickson and Arthur E. Kennelly. It concerns a movement to allow the Chicago Columbian Exposition to open on Sundays, which was a controversial issue. The letter transmitting the petition to exposition organizer Robert J. Thompson can be found D-93-10 (Edison, T.A. -- Outgoing Correspondence) in the Document File Series
