This October 1883 letter from Francis Blake to C. P. Bowditch, vice president of the American Bell Telephone Co., describes the treatment of inventors by the Bell Telephone System. In November 1878 Blake had invented and patented a carbon transmitter, which was purchased by the Bell Telephone Co.
