Charles Edison Fund Collection, Newark, N.J.: Other Correspondents -- Nichols, William W.
[X018E8]

[This letter was added in August 2012.]

This letter is by William Wallace Nichols (1860-1948), an engineer who was vice-president of Allis-Chalmers Co. when he married Mary Emily Miller in 1912. Writing to Mina Miller Edison on November 7, 1931—three weeks after the death of Thomas Edison— Nichols comments on Mina's state of mind and reacts to a public statement by Mina's stepson, William Leslie Edison, challenging the terms of his father's will and threatening a lawsuit.

There are approximately 50 letters to or from William W. Nichols in Books #8 and #9 on the Charles Edison Fund microfilm, as well as additional items in Book #35. In some of these letters Mary E. Miller appears as co-author or co-recipient. Click here for a list of all the correspondence books on the CEF microfilm. Additional letters authored or co-authored by William W. Nichols can be found in the Family Records Series in Part V of the Thomas A. Edison Papers microfilm edition.
