These twenty-two letters by William J. Hammer, which cover the period December 1888-January 1889, were selected from one disbound letterbook in box 4 in Series 1 of the William J. Hammer Collection. The letters pertain to preparations for Edison's display at the Paris Universal Exposition of 1889, which was held from May 6 to October 31. The recipients include Edison associates Samuel Insull, Edward H. Johnson, William D. Marks, and Francis R. Upton.
