These twenty-two letters by William J. Hammer, which cover the period December 1888-January 1889, were selected from one disbound letterbook in box 4 in Series 1 of the William J. Hammer Collection. The letters pertain to preparations for Edison's display at the Paris Universal Exposition of 1889, which was held from May 6 to October 31. The recipients include Edison associates Samuel Insull, Edward H. Johnson, William D. Marks, and Francis R. Upton. Incoming correspondence relating to the exhibition can be found in "Correspondence (1879-1930)."
