Also included are litigation records from 1880 concerning a suit initiated by Edison, George B. Prescott, and Gerritt Smith against the estate of Western Union President William Orton. The plaintiffs sought to regain control of their British quadruplex patent rights, to which they had named Orton a trustee in an 1877 agreement.
