The one item in this collection is an 1877 invitation to a surprise masquerade party for Alice Stilwell, the sister of Edison's first wife, Mary Stilwell Edison. Mrs. T. A. Edison, Mrs. Hattie Thornall, Mr. C. A. Van Cleve, and Mr. Fred Thornall are identified as the members of the organizing committee. The invitation is addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Valentine, great grandparents of the document's present owner.
