The microfilm edition of the Edison Papers, selected from the 5-million-page archive at the Edison National Historic Site, comprises many record groups, such as the Document File, Legal Series, Notebook Series, Patent Series, and Company Records. Each record group contains subgroups, which might take the form of folders, collections of folders, notebooks, printed volumes, or account books. Each subgroup, depending on its nature, contains one or more individually indexed documents that can be found through a database search.
