The Microfilm Edition

The microfilm edition, published by University Publications of America, will be a six-part edition when completed. There are presently four parts available: Part I (1850–1878), Part II (1879–1886), Part III (1887–1898), and Part IV (1899–1910). Part V (1911–1920) is in progress, and Part VI will complete the work. (Here is a graphic representation of the edition's structure.)

The first three parts of the microfilm have been digitized for internet distribution (see the Image Series Notes) and the documents for Part IV are in the database. The forthcoming parts of the edition will be added to the online documents as they are edited and digitized. "Thomas A. Edison and His Papers" discusses the origin and organization of the archive from which the microfilm edition is drawn.
