It controlled Edison's electric light patents in the United Kingdom and operated the central station on Holborn Viaduct, which had opened in January 1882. The company merged with the Swan United Electric Company, Ltd. on October 1883 to become the Edison and Swan United Electric Light Company, Ltd.
